Why is the answer not 10/100 (probability of selecting 10 common from 1st bag) * 10/60 (probability of selecting 10 common marbles from 2nd bag)?

A bag has 100 marbles numbered consecutively 0 - 99 inclusive. Another bag has 60 marbles numbered consecutively 90 - 149 inclusive. If a marble is randomly chosen from each bag, what is the probability that two marbles have the same number

A. 1/10
B. 1/60
C. 1/100
D. 1/600
E. 1/6000

Why is the answer not 10/100 (probability of selecting 10 common from 1st bag) * 10/60 (probability of selecting 10 common marbles from 2nd bag)?
You're picking one from each bag. Only 10 number pairs match out of 100 * 60 = 6000 total outcomes. So the probability is 10/6000 = 1/600.

A. 1/10

B. 1/60

C. 1/100

D. 1/600

E. 1/6000

Desired outcomes = 10 (10 overlapping numbers, from 90 to 99)
Total outcomes = 100 * 60 = 6000
Desidered/Total = 10/6000=1/600

Answer D
