What kind of flaw is in the argument?
Please check my understanding:
If cat is handled as kitten, it will be affectionate.
Since the cat that Paula is giving to her friend is handled, it will be affectionate.
In my reasoning this is a sufficient condition : If A, then b. Therefore A imply B
So i don't see any flaw here.

The example in the passage and the example in choice (E) both illustrate things that are necessary but not necessarily sufficient. Here are a couple of other examples:

  • "You won't get a 700 on the GMAT unless you practice every day."

This does NOT mean that practicing every day guarantees that you'll get a 700. It just means that you definitely WON'T get a 700 if you do NOT practice every day.

  • "You won't win a gold medal unless you dedicate your whole life to training."

Does dedicating your life to training guarantee a gold medal? No. But if you do NOT dedicate your whole life to training, then you can be sure that you WON'T win a gold medal.

Similarly, a cat that was handled when it was a kitten might not grow up to be affectionate for a variety of other reasons -- maybe it was traumatized or something.

Likewise, you might press your grass seeds firmly into the ground, but if the seeds don't get any water, or your yard gets infested by some grass-seed-eating insects, or you cover your yard with a tarp, or (etc. etc.)... the seeds might not germinate well.

I hope that helps!
