• According to statement 1, number of employees can be 17 or 18 or 19 or .......onwards [ means 17 or more than 17 ]
• According to statement 2, number of employees can be 17 or 16 or 15 or .......onwards [ means 17 or less than 17 ]
>> So, I think, by considering both statements, 17 is the only number we can take. So my answer is C. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

(2) If no additional employees are hired by the company and 3 of the present employees resign, there will be fewer than 15 employees in the company --> \(x-3<15\) --> \(x<18\). Not sufficient.
(1)+(2) x can only be 17. Sufficient.
Answer: C.
