Total Cost of 10 pounds of raisins = $35
Cost of mixture per pound = $2
Let,
Cost of oats = x / pound
Total Cost of y pounds of oats = $xy
We are asked to find y
Cost of mixture per pound = Total cost of raisins and oats/Total weight of mixture in pounds
Cost of mixture per pound = \(\frac{35 + xy}{10 + y}\)
\(\frac{35 + xy}{10 + y} = 2\)
\(35 + xy = 20 + 2y\)
\(y = \frac{15}{2 - x}\)
Statement 1
Doesn't help us with value of x or y. INSUFFICIENT
Statement 2
x = 1 SUFFICIENT
Answer B.

o=price of oats per pound
from the stem we get :
3.5*10+oy=2(10+y) so y=15/(2-o)
statement 1 alone: not sufficient, there is no indication of the price per pound of oats
statement 2 alone: o=1 so y=15/(2-1)=15 sufficient
