Initially I went for D:
1. Gives us 55.000*c+45.000*sa=555.000 As c+sa<15, I supposed there is only one combination that satisfies the answer.

this is the issue for me, under 2 mins , how can I guess if there is one solution or multilple solutions. TO reach this conclusion itself it will take more than 2 mins and then if I err at this point then its no use :(

That was the reason why I tried to guess the possible number of combinations instead of calculating it. But, after the second thought, it is not that time consuming (for simplicity I have also deleted three zero's in thousands)):
1. 55*c+45*sa=555
45*(c+sa)+10*c=555
Then, let's plug in numbers in (c+sa), by the way we need only odd ones (as 10*c is even and 555 - odd):
c+sa=11: 495+10*c=555, c=6, sa=5
c+sa=9: 405+10*c=555, c=15, sa=0, out of solution, as well as any other values of c+sa less than 9
c+sa=13: 585+10*c=555, no solutions.
Hence, only 1 combination.
2. 15*sa-3*c=57
5*sa-c=19
Let's plug in numbers in "sa":
sa=1, 2 or 3 are out of solution, giving negative value of "c"
sa=4: c=1
sa=5: c=6
sa=6: c=11, out of solution (sa+c<15), as well as any values bigger that 6
Maybe these calculations will take you more than 2 minutes, but not that much. 1 or 1,5 minutes perhaps, but usually I have some extra time, saved on easier questions.
Guess I have learned some new techniques from this post myself :)
