A certain quantity is measured on two different scales, the R-scale and the S-scale, that are related linearly. Measurements on the R-scale of 6 and 24 correspond to measurements on the S-scale of 30 and 60, respectively. What measurement on the R-scale corresponds to a measurement of 100 on the S-scale?

A linear relation is of type y=mx+c subsituting given values for R scale as x and corresponding S scale values as y we get 2 equations as below

30= 6m+c 60=24m+c
Solving both simultaneously we get m=5/3 and c=20
then we need to find the value of x when y=100
100=5/3x+20 5/3x=80 x=80*3/5=48
Thus the answer is C
