A company’s profit in March was $15,600. If the cost of operating the business in March was one third of the revenue gained, how much revenue, in dollars, did the company collect that month?

A. 5,200
B. 10,400
C. 15,600
D. 23,400
E. 46,800

Profit= SP- OP
OP=1/3 or revenue gained
revenue= price of good * no of good , in short = SP
Let SP=x
15600=x-x/3
solve for x, SP total revenue = $23400
and OP= 23400/3= $7800
revenue $ 23400, IMO D

Revenue= Cost + Profit (R=C+P)
R=C+15600
Cost = 1/3 (R)

R= 1/3(R) + 15600
R-1/3(R)= 15600
2/3(R)= 15600
R= 23400

This is the thought process that I used to solve this problem.
