Any combination, any major would work. It really is about the actual classes you take and the professional careers you take post-college that'll make the difference, not the names of the major.

Yeah, I agree, but it somehow doesnt seem right to do a Fine arts major at college and go to a Business school for a master degree :)

I agree; however, one should really be doing what makes sense in college. I'm a firm believer that b-school should really be the effect, rather than the cause of doing something in college. One should not limit his/her major in college knowing that it won't really be appealing to what b-school wants to see. Anyway, this is just my own opinion.

Why not? People change paths. My best friend was an art major, worked in market research post-college and just graduated from a top 20 school with leadership positions left and right and landed an awesome job. Business school was absolutely the right place for her.

It could be argued that someone with an BFA stands to gain more from an MBA.

Naturally, as he wouldnt have any business/financial knowledge prior to b-school.
I also believe that doing something in order to be more appealing when applying to b-schools (or to law schools for that matter) is really a poor decision and one may suffer the consequences.

Disagree. Business school is most valuable to those who are learning something different, not regurgitating and rehashing what they already know (which is habitually - though not categorically - inferior to workplace knowledge anyway). Admissions committees will evaluate whether someone with a Fine Arts background has the work experience, inclination and raw intellectual ability to handle b-school subject matter.

Math and economics simply reduces the burden of proof on your part. Doesn't make a hoot of a difference when it comes to banking recruitment; the b-school does 90% of the competency filter for the banks already, and they're interested in fit, your hunger and your stamina.
