A gasoline mixture contains g liters gasoline, b liters benzene, and a liters of other additives. If there are 12 liters of gasonline mixture in an automobile tank, how many liters of additives are in the tank?
(1) If 3 liters of additives were added to the mixture, benzene would only account for 30% of the total mixture.
(2) (b + g + 4.5)/3 = 3g/2

(1) If 3 liters of additives were added to the mixture, then final mixture becomes = 12+3 =15 lts
benzene = 30 % of 15lts = 9/2=4.5lts in 15 lts
No info on additives and g

(2) clearly insuff...
combining
from (1) we know b=4.5lts
thus from (2) we can deduce value of g present in 15 lts
thus %age of b and g can be calculated in 12 lts(as only additives is mixed , b =4.5lts & g per (2) in 12 lts of mixture is present initially as well)
and the remaining will be additives

Went with 3 equations, 3 definite values.
Statement says: 12 = g + b + a. Okay
1) g + b + a = 12 + 3--> b / g + a = 3/ 7 --> 7b - 3a - 3y = 0.
And we have 12 = g + b + a --> Not suff we need one more equation
2) b + g + 4.5/ 3 = 3g/ 2
2b+ 2g + 9 = 9g --> we have 2 equations. (counting 12 = b + g +a)
1) 2) 3 equations. Suff. C
