Let's assume the original price of movie ticket to be $100
Kelly's discount = 30% i.e. $30
New price of movie ticket = 50% of original price + original price
= 50 + 100 = $150

Now we have to find $30 is what % of $150
30 = x% of $150
Solving this we get x = 20%

Ans = B

Kelly used to get a 30% discount on movie tickets. When the price of the movie ticket increased by 50%, the amount of discount in dollars remained the same. What is Kelly's discount with the new Ticket price in percent terms?

A. 10%
B. 20%
C. 25%
D. 35%
E. 38%

Let \(p\) be the initial price of a ticket, and \(d\) the new discount.

Given: \(p*0.3=(p*1.5)*d\) --> p cancels out and we'll get: \(d=\frac{0.3}{1.5}=0.2=20%\)

Answer: B.

Let the initial price of the movie ticket be 100.

=> 30% discount: Discounted price is 70

Price increase by 50%: The increased price is 150.

Kelly's discount with the new Ticket price in percent terms: \(\frac{30}{150}\) * 100 = 20

Answer B
