If the total face value of the coins is$94, how many 25-cent coins are in the jar?

(A) 120
(B) 200
(C) 280
(D) 360
(E) 440

Let the 25 cent coins be x.
Since the total coins are 640, the 10 cent coins will be 640 - x

$$25x + 10(640 - x) = 94*100$$
$$25x + 6400 - 10x = 9400$$
$$15x = 9400 - 6400 = 3000$$ -> $$x = \frac{3000}{15} = 200$$

Therefore, there are 200(Option B) 25 cent coins in the jar.

We are asked to find out the number of 25-cent in the jar. Don't forget to assign variable for unknown. let the number of 25-cent coins be x. Now , Notice to the total number of coins. If 25-cent coins are x , rest of the coins are 10-cent.

So, Total number of 10-cent coins = 640-x

Now , we can form equation as total amount is given.

25x+ (640-x)10 = 94*100.................Note: we are dealing with cents. Thus converting cents to Dollar is essential.

25x+6400-10x =9400
15x=3000
x=200, which is option B.
