(1) 3/5 of the even-numbered balls are red and 1/4 of the odd numbered balls are green.
(2) There are three fewer even-numbered red balls than odd-numbered red balls.
(1) Only
We know there are 20 even-numbered balls and 20 odd-numbered balls.
With (1), we can determine the number of red / green balls.
Sufficient.
Note: No need to actually solve the question.
(2) Only
It is possible that
there is 1 even-numbered red ball and 4 odd-numbered red balls, for a total of 5 red balls.
OR
there are 2 even-numbered red balls and 5 odd-numbered red balls, for a total of 7 red balls.
Insufficient
The answer is thus (A).
