Hi mates,

IMO C

A out: it shoukd be "was published" instead of "were published" because it refers to a novel
B out: as shoould introduce a clause, should be "like" instead of "as"
D and E out: "reveals" needs a subject

OA and Source?

Cheers

hello JohnLewis1980

i had nailed it down to B & C and choose B as i thought "that" introduced a clause unnecessarily and hence avoided c.

could you pls explain how B is worng.

Thanks

Yes, for sure.

As I read in the SC Guide from Manhattan Review, "as" and "like" are used to introduce comparisons. The difference between them is that "as" is used to introduce a clause (i.e. subjet+verb+complements, e.g. "as my mother does") and "like" just things or persons (e.g. "like me", "like my book" etc.)

I hope this clarify why I think B is wrong

Cheers
