A long-distance telephone company charges a monthly fee of $4.95 plus $0.07 per minute for long-distance telephone calls. If a person’s long-distance telephone calls for a certain month totaled 320 minutes, what was the total amount that the telephone company charged the person for that month?

A pretty straightforward question.
All we need to do is add the Fixed Cost and the Variable cost to get the total cost to get the Total Cost
TC = FC + x * VC, where x is the number of units used/produced.
Here FC = $4.95 and VC is $0.07/minute or 7 cents/minute
Eliminating options might not work here as the values are pretty close to each other, but if we look a little closely, we can actually understand that the answer will end will end in a 5 as 320*0.07 = 21.40 and added to 4.95, ends with a 5.
In this case, thinking that way might not be a viable option and we should then focus on how fast we can get to the answer.
Since we have 7 cents/minute, therefore 320 minutes = 7 * 320 = 7(300 + 20) = 2100 + 140 = 2240 = $22.4
TC = 4.95 + 22.40 = $27.35
