Are You Up For the Challenge: 700 Level Questions
Given: A man reaches his office 30 min late, if he walks from his home at 3 km per hour and reaches 40 min early if he walks at 4 km per hour.

Asked: How far is his office from his house?

Let the distance from office to home be x and time taken to reach office from home is t.

3 km/hr = x km /( t+.05)
4 km/hr = x km / (t-2/3)
x = 3 (t +.5) = 4 (t - 2/3) = 3t + 1.5 = 4t - 8/3
t = 8/3 + 1.5
x = 3 (8/3 + 1.5 +.5) = 8 + 6 = 14 km

Speed Ratio:-
3:4
So,Time Ratio:-
4:3
Difference in time is 1 unit=70 min.
So ,actual time ratio:-
280:210.
So total distance=3*(280/60)=14 KM.

Let the distance be d
so we have
d/3 - d/4= 1/2 + 2/3
- -> d= (7*12)/6 = 14 km
