A manufacturing facility has two production lines A and B, that operate at constant but different rates. Line A's output rate is 50% higher than Line B's.

If the total output at the end of an 8-hour shift is 800 boxes, select the possible hourly output rate for each line. Make only one selection in each column.
Let R be the hourly output rate of Line B. Line A’s rate is 1.5R.

In an 8-hour shift, the total output is:
  • Line A: 8×1.5R=12R
  • Line B: 8×R=8R
Total output: 12R+8R=20

Given total output is 800 boxes:

20R=800

Solving for R:

R=800/20=40

So:
  • Line A’s hourly output rate: 1.5×40=60 boxes
  • Line B’s hourly output rate: 40 boxes
