Let the original volume be = x

Initial Amount of milk = 60% of x = 0.6x and Amount of water = x - 0.6x = 0.4x


6 L of milk is added to make it into a 90% milk solution (i.e 10% is water)

So, 0.4x Liters of water is 10% of the solution of (x + 6) Liters

\(\frac{0.4x}{x + 6} * 100 = 10\)

40x = 10x + 60

30x = 60

x = 2

Hello MHIKER

Please refer to the portion in red. It should be 0.9 (x + 6), as the amount of solution also increases, and the milk is now 90% of the increased solution.

If you solve it, you get 0.6x + 6 = 0.9(x + 6) = 0.9x + 5.4

Therefore 0.3x = 0.6

x = 2
