Between C and D, I picked C. D sounds much better, but I was thinking "Olive Ann Beech" can NOT be "the business mind" So, I picked much wordier C, because it says OAB was the one whose...
OA says it's D, anyone who can enlighten me here?

omega17, this one is tricky. My answer : D. First it is the shortest of the two.
C might be correct if "Olive Ann Beech IS the one whose business mind was" Also, I felt Who was the business mind behind X? Olive Ann Beech was the business mind behind X. But, whenever I feel, I am wrong.

I choose D.
It is the most concise. C is too wordy and was my only other choice.
I choose D. "mind" can refer to a person or a group or an organization. So it is possible to say: X is the mind behind Y.
To quote from dictionary.com: 5. a person considered with reference to intellectual power: the greatest minds of the twentieth century.
