A new line of cosmetics called "Glow" has been released, claiming to provide a more natural, healthy look than other brands. To determine the effectiveness of the new line, a study was conducted in which participants used Glow cosmetics on one side of their face and a competitor's brand on the other side. Can you please post the detailed explanation for the weaken statement.
I am confused regarding the above since it is mentioned that the participants used Glow's products on one side of the face and the competitor's on others. Even if they have a markedly healthy and natural appearance before study, the two sides of face will show different results post the application of cosmetic products of 2 different brands.

I understand the basis of the strengthening portion of the argument, but how can the weakening be the point with markedly skin? If not anything, it is providing a neutral ground for the brand glow and its competitors as the question has specifically mentioned that the participants applied the products of glow and the competition on the two sides of the face! Then how it is weakening the argument?
