• Issues tested?
Redundancy.
Okay, these sentences suffer from other errors, but really, we have a rare 4-1 split.
Four sentences use redundant words.
One does not.
• Split #1: RedundancyGMAC really dislikes repetitiveness, a fact that dovetails into its preference for concision.
Only one option does not suffer from redundancy.
These options contain redundancy:
A)
that the representation of global migrants on a world scale is overpowered by Christians, who overrepresent a high 49%. → This option is also written in the passive voice, which is not in and of itself a problem.
Compared to option D's active voice construction, though, the passive voice here is not warranted.
B)
that Christians overrepresent a high 49% of the world scale of global migrants. C)
that Christians are overrepresented by an elevated 49% on the world scale of global migrants. → This option also uses the unidiomatic "elevated" 49%. You don't need to know that fact, but if you are a native speaker, you probably should have caught the oddity of "elevated" in this context.
E)
that 49% of global migrants are represented overwhelmingly high by Christians.→ As is the case in option A, the passive voice in this option does it no favors.
→ This option is also ungrammatical.
The word
high describes the verb "are represented" and thus should be the adverb
highly. (Don't use "overwhelmingly highly" ever. That phrasing is horrid. You don't need to know this part because you can eliminate based on the adjective/adverb problem. Just sayin'.)
Eliminate A, B, C, and E.
The correct answer is D:D) that Christians represent an
overwhelming 49% of global migrants on a world scale.
→ This option is the most concise sentence that does not repeat information.
