Several members emailed us for access to the essay forum. It breaks my heart when I have to say no to some of you, but hear me out. Instead of customizing a reply to everyone and consuming half the coffee I have in stock in the process, I thought I should make a few points in public.

If you would like to benefit from the work of other members, I am honor bound to allow members with 400+ posts - this should take you at least 3 months. The longer you have been active, the better.

This is only the first step. The members themselves have complete control over who they share their essay with. This policy is good for you and good for the guys who offer to share.

You first give and only hope to receive - it never fails though - you always receive hand over fist. This is the honor code at GMAT Club.

People have tried this before - however, you'll find that most writers will not share their essays until they see evidence of meaningful contributions.

yes I think the list of requirements is now officially referred to as the riverripper method. People have set a list of requirement for the essays and I will tell you before I share mine I verify posts by going to a persons profile and checking their posts. I obviously dont read all but if I am not very aware of who someone is then I will. Note this is why avatars are very good things for you to have. I dont read names very often unless I am quoting or answering. But I can tell you who has what avatar because it sticks in my mind. So find something unique and use that, then you will be more memorable. (Just dont make it obnoxiously large please).

Um, that was really more of a joke than an honest attempt to bolster my post count.

A mod can feel free to knock one (now two) posts of my post count if he or she sees fit, it won't bother me a bit. I really enjoy this forum and post when I feel I have something to say... not really actively trying to get to any number.

If you PM prae with a request for access because you want to share essays you will be allowed in...but remember once you are in there arent really essays just posts for people offering to share.

dox, that is a sickeningly cute avatar... :P

Thanks for posting the requirements here Praet.

As river said already, his method is the one generally used in the vault right now. So you may get access, but you'll still need to "prove" yourself in the eyes of the person sharing the essays. It's best that you establish a good rapport with people on this forum and the mods, so that we know you as someone who contributes. A high kudos score is generally good too (seems like anything over 30-40 right now is good, but that will go up as the Kudos system gets more mature and used). The people who did post their essays also require you to ask them for the password to the pdf, so in the end, this is a very good system to make sure you have been contributing to the forum before you get to read the essays that many of us spent months of blood, tears, and sweat to do. :)
