Easy mistake is to do .2x = 60. Trap answer

You must take X - .2X = 60

Or

.8X=60
X=75

Solution

Given
In this question, we are given that
    • A pair of shoes is on sale for $60
    • This price is 20% less than the regular price of the shoes

To find
We need to determine
    • The regular price of the shoes

Approach and Working out
If the regular price of the shoes is P, then after 20% discount, the price becomes P – 20% of P = 80% of P = 0.8P
As per the condition,
    • 0.8P = 60
    Or, P = 60/0.8 = 75

Thus, option B is the correct answer.

Correct Answer: Option B
