Hi All,
Sometimes these types of rate questions can be complex, but this one is actually pretty straight-forward. It might help to think of the 'math steps' one at a time though (instead of trying to use all of the information all at once).
To start, we're told that particular printer can print 96 pages in 25 minutes. This is our 'baseline rate.' If we double the number of pages, then we would double the amount of time that it would take the printer. If we halve the number of pages, then we would halve the amount of time needed. If we double the number of printers, then we halve the amount of time needed.
The questions asks for the number of minutes that it would take 2 such printers to print 48 pages.
48 pages is HALF of 96 pages, so 1 printer would need HALF of 25 minutes = 12.5 minutes to complete the print job. We have 2 printers though, so since we're doubling the number of printers to do the same amount of work, we would halve the amount of time needed:
12.5/2 = 6.25 minutes = 6 minutes 15 seconds
