The relative speed of boat will increase if it is going with the current and the relative speed will decrease if it is going against it.
We can solve it by below method.

Let speed of boat be 's' and speed of current be 'x'
first case: 4=d/(s-x)
second case: 2=d/(s+x)
Solving 2 cases we get: s=3x
Now, let time taken for same distance with current be t
t=d/s= d/3x
Solving first case and new equation we get
t=2.6..
t= 2 hrs 40 min
