(A) 175

(B) 350

(C) \(200 \sqrt{2}\)

(D) \(350 \sqrt{2}\)

(E) \(100 \sqrt{3}\)

Perimeter of the Rectangular field : 2*400 + 2*300 =1400

Perimeter pf the square field = 4x, where x is the leg of the square.

So, 4x = 1400

x= 350.

The best answer is B.

Solution

Given:

    • A rectangular field is 400 feet long and 300 feet wide.
    • A square field has the same perimeter as the rectangular field.

To find:

    • The length, in feet, of each side of the square field.

Approach and Working:

    • Perimeter of rectangular field= 2(400+300)= 1400
    • Let side length of the square is ‘a’ feet. Then.
      o 4a= 1400= 14*100
      o a=14*25= 350

Hence, the correct answer is option B.

\(2(l+b) = 4a\)

Or, \(a = \frac{( l + b)}{2}\)

So, Each side of a square is \(\frac{400 + 300}{2} = 350\) , Answer must be (B)

If we let s = a side of the square field, then the perimeter of the square field is 4s. The perimeter of the rectangular field is 2(400) + 2(300) = 1400. Since the two fields have the same perimeter, we have:

4s = 1400

s = 350

L=400
W=300

P(Rectangle)=2(400+300)=1400

P(Square)=P(Retangle)
4*s=1400
s=350

Therefore B
