CONCEPT:3D Mensuration (Volume), Rate of doing work
-Volume of a Cuboid= Length* Breath*Height
-Total Work =Rate of doing* Time for which the work is done.

SOLUTION: By the concept mentioned above’
Volume of the pool(V)=30 x 10 x 2 =600 m3
Thus, time taken to fill it=0.5 * t
0.5*T=600 =>t=1200min or 20 hrs.(E)

Hope this helps. :) keep studying

Solution

Given
In this question, we are given that
    • A rectangular swimming pool has a length of 30 meters, a width of 10 meters, and an average depth of 2 meters
    • A hose can fill the pool at a rate of 0.5 cubic meters per minute

To find
We need to determine
    • Number of hours the hose will take to fill the pool

Approach and Working out
The volume of water needed to make the pool full = 30 x 10 x 2 cubic meters
The hose can fill 0.5 cubic meters per minute
    • Hence, the time the hose will take to fill = (30 x 10 x 2)/0.5 minutes =1200 minutes = 20 hours

Thus, option E is the correct answer.

Correct Answer: Option E

Hi

Can someone explain why the question says average depth instead of just depth?
Is it just to confuse or we need to take some action of calcualtion on it?

A rectangular swimming pool has a length of 30 meters, a width of 10 meters, and an average depth of 2 meters. If a hose can fill the pool at a rate of 0.5 cubic meters per minute, how many hours will it take the hose to fill the pool?

A. 12 hours
B. 14 hours
C. 15 hours
D. 18 hours
E. 20 hours

The volume of the pool is 30 x 10 x 2 = 600 m^3.

Thus it will take 600/0.5 = 1200 minutes or 1200/60 = 20 hours.

Answer E
