Stem1 is sufficient by itself, because even if we assume all gourmet sandwiches were the $12 kind, Sandy would only break even after adding cost of discount card. However this is enough to answer the question, that she would not have saved money. (In all other situations she would have spend more with discount card than without.)

So, (A) for me

A

St1: She could have either spent $31 more if all gourmet sandwitches she bought are of $7 each. Or she could be in no profit no loss if all gourmet sandwitches she bought are of $12 each.: SUFF

St2: clearly INSUFF

A is Suff

Using A we can prove that he would not have saved any money.

B) insuff. We don't know the break of the sandwiches hence cannot say specifically how many gourmet he bought and how many regular he bought

Savings for 80% of 150 sandwitches = 20% of 120 = 108$.

If she bought all remaining 30 sandwitches for $12, then savings would be

20% of 12*30 = 72.
Total savings would be 180 - 108 -72 = 0 .

if she bought atleast one $7 sandwitch she would have definitely saved.

So could she have saved ? No if she bought all $12 sandwitches. Yes if she bought atleast one $7 sandwitch.

So statement 1 is insufficient.

Though short on details, your answer is declared OE. OA:A

So in all situations, she wouldn't have saved money. At best, she broke even!
