I've got (A)

ST1. 80% of 150 equal 120 regular sandwiches. So,

150 = 120 reg + 30 gourmet

W/o card, 120*$4.50 = $540 total on regular
Let's pick the most expenosve for gourmet, for $12/each. Then 30*$12 = $360 on gourmet sandwiches. Total, w/o card, 540+360 = 900.

If she used the card, she would have saved 0.2*$900 = $180 on sandwiches, but it is not exceed the cost of the card. So, it is sufficient to answer the question.

ST2. Wide open for various possibiities. Not suff.

So, (A)

great , i thought there was a twist to the question but couldn't catch it.

wouldn't you be able to buy sandiwiches with $180 dollars sandwich card ?
but yeah your approach makes more sense if $180 was the cost incurred on top of the sandwich cost.

A

1) Regular sandwich = 120
Cost of regular = 120*4.5 = 540

Let the rest of the gourmet be of 12 each
Hence cost = 30*12 = 360

Total cost = 900
With a discount card cost = 900*20/100 = 180

Cost of discount card = 180
Hence no money saved.

2) not enough information
