A retail seller of handmade rugs has decided that it makes more economic sense to switch from purchasing rugs from a supplier in Kuwait to several others that are located in Greece. Not only is it less expensive for her to buy rugs of comparable quality from the Greek suppliers, the shipping costs to her store in England are considerably less.

Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the decision made by the retail seller?

(A) The stock of rugs available to the seller in Greece is slightly larger than the stock available in Kuwait. Incorrect

it doesnt related with retailer economic sense

(B) Most of the seller’s customers prefer to know the source of the rugs they purchase. Incorrect

it has not any effect on sales from where the product came

(C) The seller profitably sold rugs from Greece during a time when it was difficult to buy any goods from Kuwait. Correct

make economic sense, retailer can buy and sell rugs from greece easily and cheaply when cant buy from kuait, so it is more economical

(D) Each of the Greek suppliers know that the others are also selling rugs to the seller. Incorrect

not related with retailers perception

(E) The Kuwaiti supplier has promised to discount the cost of the rugs if the seller agrees to increase the number of purchases she makes each year by 20%. Incorrect

not strengthens argument

but doesnt D mean: more sellers thus sellers would try to reduce prices to sustain in the competition?

Yes I think the same with you. And I don’t think A is correct, cuz “stock is more” has nothing to do with “less expensive”.

Hi again, sayan640.

A directly ensures the seller has ample stock, making the switch economically sound by securing business operations against stockouts.

C, while showing historical profitability, does not guarantee ongoing economic advantage or address current supply issues. It raises the classic GMAT concept of representativeness. How representative is the past on an ongoing basis?

Therefore, A is unequivocally the superior choice over the other 4 as it solidifies the economic rationale with immediate, practical supply benefits.

A says the inventory of rugs to Greek sellers is "slightly larger"

this phrase itself weakens the force of the option

additionally, inventory being large or small has not much to do with the switch making economic sense

what if despite higher units available to sell at lower cost, the SP is not enough to make as much profits as the seller was making from Kuwait rugs

there are multiple factors that come into play leaving this choice an incomplete one
