For the first four days, the average is Rs. 40 a day. So he earns a total of 40x4=160 Rs. During these 4 days. Since his total earning during the 12 day period is Rs. 504, we can see that his earning during the remaining 8 days will be 504-160 = 344. This average will be 344/8 = 43 = C

total 12 days
so for 4 days total = 160
504-160 ; 344 and avg of 8 days ; 43 IMO C
