Given: A Shopkeeper wants to make \(\frac{1}{7}\)th profit on her cost by diluting, with water, concentrate to specification and sells it at the rate at which she bought a litre of the concentrate.
Asked:Find the water:concentrate ratio in the diluted solution.
To get 1/7 profit, she should get the solution = 8/7 times original solution
In 8/7, the concentrate is 1 and the rest = 1/7 is water
Water:concentrate ratio = 1/7: 1 = 1:7

Given: SP - CP = \(\frac{1}{7}\)CP
p(x+y) - xp = \(\frac{xp}{7}\)
xp+yp-xp = \(\frac{xp}{7}\)
7yp = xp
\(\frac{y}{x}\) = \(\frac{1}{7}\) (E)
