The maximum possible distance between two vertices of a cube with side 'a' is a√3. It goes through the center of the cube.

Now imagine a football and a cube inside the football. The diameter of the football will cut through the center of the cube.

Therefore diameter = max possible distance between two vertices] = 6

The maximum Possible distance between two vertices after the cut = Diagonal of cube = Diameter of sphere = 6
