A store bought Q windows at $150 per window and W shelves at $75 per shelve. What is the total price of the windows and the shelves?
(1) The Q windows cost $600.
(2) Q + W/2 = 12.
Given one window cost is 150$ and one shelve cost is 75$.
Question is asking us to find the total price of windows and shelves then we need to have number of windows (Q) and the number of shelves (W).
XQ + YW = ? => 150Q + 75W = ?
Stat 1 : Total windows cost 600$, then the number of windows will be 600/150 = 4. We have number of windows but not number of shelves . Not sufficient.
Stat 2: Q + W/2 = 12. We are not sure on the number of windows and number of shelves, though we have information about individual costs... Not Sufficient.
Stat 1 + Stat 2 : Q = 4 from stat 1.
4 + W/2 = 12 ( replacing 4 in stat 2).
=> W = 4.
Thus we have both Q = 4 and W = 4.
4 * 150 + 4 * 75 = 600 + 300 = 900 ... Hence both sufficient.. Answer C.
