A teacher gave a test to a class in which 10% of the students are juniors and 90% are seniors. The average score on the test was 84. The juniors all received the same score, and the average score of the seniors was 83. What score did each of the juniors receive on the test?

Total students = 100
senior = 90
Juniors = 10.
Sum of all the scores = 100*84 = 8400.
Sum of all the scores of seniors = 83 * 90 = 7470.
Difference in scores = 8400 - 7470 = 930.
930 is the scores obtained by juniors.
930 / 10 = 93.
It's stated in the question that all juniors got the same score.
C is the correct answer.

Let total students = x
Juniors = 0.10x
Say, Avg. score of juniors = J
Seniors = 0.90x
Avg. score of seniors = 83
Overall average = 84
\(84 = \frac{0.10x * J + 0.90x * 93}{(0.10x + 0.90x)}\)
84x = 0.10Jx + 74.7x
Solving for J, we get
J = 93
