A total of 83 occupants live in a college apartment complex. If there are 40 apartments and each apartment has at least two occupants, how many apartments have more than two occupants?
(1) Only one apartment has more than three occupants.
(2) The apartment manager lives in one of the apartments with her husband and two children.

Root Q : 40 apartments have atleast 2... thus 80 occupants are accounted for .
Case 1 : 37 Apts have 2 and 3 apts have 3 each
Case 2 : 38 Apts have 2 , 1 apt have 3 and 1 apt 4 ---- hence, #apts more than 2 is 2
Case 3 : 39 Apts have 2 and 1 apt have 5 ---- hence, #apts more than 2 is 1
1) Only 1 apt has more than 3.... this satisfies case 2 & 3 ..... thus (NS)
2) 1 apt has 4 person................ this satisfies case 2 only ..... thus (S)......................hence the answer is B

Suppose One apartment has 4 occupants
Remaining 39 have 39*2=78;total=78+4=82
Means one other Partment has one more occupants so
No of apartment having more than two=2
Other case
If one apartment has 5 occupants
Then remaining will have=39*2=78
So Number of apartment having more than two=1
Two different answers.not sufficient
(2) The apartment manager lives in one of the apartments with her husband and two children.
Means apartment manager contain 4 person
Other apartment contain 39*2=78
Total=82
So Means one other Partment has one more occupants so
No of apartment having more than two=2
Only one answer so sufficient
B is answer
