For each of the following statements, select Yes if it can be concluded based on the information provided. Otherwise, select No.

YesNo
All students with exactly 3 years of work experience who met the score thresholds are eligible for selection.
A student with 75 in written and 35 in interview can still be rejected.
A student with 38 in interview and 69 in written is not eligible for selection.

All students with exactly 3 years of work experience who met the score thresholds are eligible for selection.

• Priya (written 75 (75%), interview 35 (70%), experience 2 years) had the same interview score as Shukla (interview 35), who was selected, and even a higher written score than Shukla (Shukla had 72). So Priya was obviously rejected because of her 2 years of work experience. Since Amit (written 70, interview 40, experience 3 years) was selected, then 2 is not enough and 3 is. And thus, if \(z = 3\), and score thresholds are also met, then yes, the student is eligible for selection. Yes.

A student with 75 in written and 35 in interview can still be rejected.

• According to Tab 1, a student must meet the required percentages in both the written examination and the interview and have at least \(z\) years of work experience. So even if the scores are sufficient, a candidate can still be rejected if the work experience condition is not satisfied. Yes.

A student with 38 in interview and 69 in written is not eligible for selection.

• Reetu (written 69, interview 38, experience 10 years) had more in interview than Shukla (interview 35), who was selected, and more experience than Amit (3 years), who was also selected. So Reetu was rejected specifically because of her written score of 69. This shows that having 69 in written makes a student not eligible, no matter the other parameters. Yes.

Correct answer:

All students with exactly 3 years of work experience who met the score thresholds are eligible for selection.
"Yes"

A student with 75 in written and 35 in interview can still be rejected. "Yes"

A student with 38 in interview and 69 in written is not eligible for selection. "Yes"

Exactly three years is enough. If the condition had been “at least three years,” that also would be enough, but the point here is that three years by itself already satisfies the requirement.

How can we say the min % to pass Interview is 70 means 35/50 marks? We saw that 20 marks was rejected so we only know it should be more than 40%. what if the min marks to pass interview was 30?

Example:- A student got 99 in writting 34 in interview which is less than 70% and has 5 yrs of exp. How would you reject him?
Bunuel
Official Solution:

Amit (written 70, interview 40, experience 3 years) was selected with a written score of 70%. Shukla (written 72, interview 35, experience 4 years) was selected with an interview score of 35, which is exactly 70% of the 50-mark interview. So, scoring 70% is sufficient in both the written examination and the interview.

On the other hand, Reetu (written 69, interview 38, experience 10 years) — who had more than 70% in the interview and more experience than Amit — was obviously rejected because of her written score of 69%. This makes it clear that 69% is not sufficient. Thus, \(x = 69\%\), meaning a candidate must score more than 69% in both components.

So, a candidate must get 70% or higher in the interview to be selected.

Correct answer:

Based on the information provided, what is the minimum interview percentage a student must get to be selected?

"70"

Shukla was selected with an interview score of 35, which is exactly 70% of 50. That proves 70% in the interview is sufficient.

Reetu was rejected despite scoring 38 in the interview (76%) and having 10 years of experience. So her rejection must be due to her written score of 69%, which confirms that 69% is not sufficient.

Since no one with an interview score above 35 was rejected due to interview performance, and 35 (70%) led to selection, the minimum interview percentage required is 70%.
