Hey, all. Now that I can type like a normal person, I wanted to make a full disclosure.
This fall, I was appointed an admissions ambassador for Fuqua. My main role is replying to emails from prospective students, but my team also replies to queries on the various boards. I want you to know 3 things:
1. I promise that I am NOT trolling. My role does NOT have an effect on admissions. Even if I wanted to out rhyme as the world's biggest jerk and tell admissions not to let him in, they wouldn't listen to me. It's simply not my role.
2. What I do: I answer questions and will sometimes report issues that applicants might have. For example, I reported that the supplemental docs form is confusing. (FYI - admissions is aware of the issue and is working on it.) Again, not to out any of you, but as a way to give feedback to admissions. So if anything isn't working for you, please post and I will let them know. If you have a bad visit or think our web site is rotten or whatever, I am happy to pass that info along anonymously. (Really, truly anonymously.)
3. However, I recognize that my presence here can be somewhat two-sided. I thought about getting a second screen name, but decided that I will just let you know when I'm speaking as AAu and when it's as AdmissionsGirl. Overall, if I'm spouting off on my thoughts about the admissions process and b-school in general, it's just me chatting with my gmatclub friends. If I'm talking specifically about Duke and in an official way, I will tell you. (And keep in mind that I -- and anyone else on this board -- am only giving you what I know from my experience. Don't take any of us too seriously -- none of us are the ones who will actually make the decision to admit you!)
I hope that's clear. And if you have any feelings about me being here in this capacity, please let me know. I volunteered for this role because I like the gmatclub community and because I care about Duke. Others on my team are spending time on BW, and I really didn't want to go there. I like you guys and wanted to stay here. So thanks for having me.
