(B) due to the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

(C) due to the fact that she was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

(D) due to the fact that she was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and also

(E) because it was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Abigail Adams is still remembered nowadays, almost 200 years after her death, due to the fact that it was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and a supporter of women’s rights.

(A) due to the fact that it was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

Incorrect.

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect: the pronoun it can refer to non humans only but the noun to which it refers is a human being (Abigail Adams).

What helps us identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign: Any pronoun in the underlined part of the sentence or after the underlined part

(B) due to the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

Incorrect.

Omitting the words the fact that it was changes the meaning of the original sentence.

(C) due to the fact that she was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

This answer choice corrects the original Pronouns mistake by changing the non-human pronoun it to the feminine human pronoun she, which agrees with Abigail Adams.

(D) due to the fact that she was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and also

Incorrect.

While this answer choice corrects the original Pronoun mistake and is grammatically correct, it is stylistically flawed. Adding the word also creates redundancy.

(E) because it was the wife of President John Adams, the mother of President John Quincy Adams, and

Incorrect.

This answer choice repeats the original Pronoun mistake: the pronoun it can refer to non humans only but the noun to which it refers is a human being (Abigail Adams).

a supporter of women’s rights.

She was the wife, the mother, and also

First two discuss the relationship while the last (and also) one discusses her work. I think the word also seperates the idea of relationships and her work. Hence it is not adding redundancy.
