Accuracy levels in OG 11

Question

Hi friends, I just finished all practice questions in OG and my accuracy in each section came to 80% +- 5. Am devastated :shock:

I have heard that the questions in OG are much easier than the actual test. Can any of our veteran comment on these figures? Bloody couldn't sleep last night

OG questions are as close as you get to the real thing. HOWEVER - since it is paper based, it cannot adapt to your level. so there is a sample for each level of difficulty. naturally, since harder questions are relevant to less people - there are much less hrad questions than average questions (and similarly, much less really easy questions than average questions).

if you are really good in gmat, in the actual test you'll get more hard questions than you saw on the OG.

Yes, I understand questions in OG fairly represent actual GMAT questions. The prime concern, however, is the accuracy in OG questions. I am hitting around 80 %. Is this good enough for 750? Or what whould be my target?

it is hard to evaluate your target score using OG. you should use gmatprep for that - their scores are quite accurate. OG is mainly for preparation - not for evaluation.

I took my first practice test today. It was one of paper based tests provided by GMAT (official disclosed edition). I scored 700. I made a lot of silly questions which i can certainly improve upon. Although 700 is still way below my target score, its not a very bad score to start with. 

For readers who are also preparing for GMAT, the most important part of your preparation should be the evaluation of your mistakes. It really helps, infact this is the only strategy helping me right now.

Will keep posting the results of other tests i take.

Although using the OG as a predictor for the GMAT is not a great idea, if you want to score 750+, you wanna get more than 90% (I'd say more like 95%) correct in each section. 

From my personal experience, I can't correctly quantify my improvement b/c I studied the sections in small portions. I answered the difficult questions better b/c I was improving as I was moving along each section.

I think a lot of people want the highest score they can attain to help ballance out weakpoints in their application. If you have a 3.1-3.2 and are applying to a top 10 school you are going to want to have an above average GMAT.

Hi Guys!! Just finished my second practice test. Again, a paper based test (disclosed edition) by GMAT, one of those PDFs you can buy online from GMAT. Scored 750. :2gunfire:

Now I am feeling confident. Although its not adaptive unlike real GMAT and the questions were not really hard, as I think would be the case in real GMAT, I am feeling great. I am planning to take total of 15 tests (9 paper based, 4 of kaplan and 2 of GMAT prep) before i go for the big one (planning to take on 25th May) . All I am aiming here is 90%+ accuracy and average score of 750 +- 20. To kidderek Thanks for your inputs, Kidderk. Yes you are right, I should emphasize more on the accuracy along with speed. If accuracy is good, scores will automatically go up. And I can clearly see improvements by analyzing the mistakes. The number of silly mistakes has gone down. Thanks anyways

Congratulations, then, I think you've mastered the most important aspect of the B-school apps.: honest introspection. Don't get me wrong, the 750 won't hurt, but the honest introspection, you can't do without!
