I got a question similar to this on GMAT.

Irregular Pentagon for which four sides are give and question asks to choose among the options such as

5 or 10
5 or 10 or 15
5
can't calculate


I choose can't calculate.

Does the question ask to calculate the 5th side?!
If so, I attach an illustration here to prove why "can't calculate".

Man...why is such a sophisticated proof required...4 lines can be drawn in any which way at any angle with each other..obviously the first line can have any length...

Mine is just a visual clarification.....you can work it mentally, but won't feel assured :wink:
