Hello Yashika,

We would like to give you some perspective on work experience.

In India, the 2-year full-time MBA programs usually have 0-low work experience requirement. Even though a good proportion of students have Nil or less than 1 year of work experience, these programs increasingly prefer candidates who come in with some amount of work experience.

Since you are on the GMATclub forum, I would presume you are mostly looking at 1-year programs in India or programs from abroad.
The 1-year MBA programs in India seek candidates with 4+ years of work experience on average. Reason is that a candidate of 1-year program is able to get the same level of learning as one in a 2-year program if they understand the basics from their professional experience. Also, they are operating on an entirely different segment, and hence the work-ex requirement.
For MBA programs from abroad, schools would prefer some work experience as it helps candidates to come in with richer perspectives and contribute more to the classes.

Hope this clarifies on the work-ex requirement at B-schools.

Do visit websites of B-schools and go through their cohort details to get deeper insights into specific admission requirements.

Cheers !

Hello,
I am 2019 business graduate, with around 3.3 GPA according to Indian standard in graduation.
I have a good academic background in highschool as well as junior high school.
If I talk about the achievement part, I have been rewarded with many certifications and awards on academic as well as other extra curricular activities.
I just wanted to know. Will I be able to get admission on my academic background basis if I opt to join MBA college after giving GMAT or work experience is mandatory?
Kindly revert.
Thank you in advance.
