Hello. I’m Abhishek Raj, Deputy Director in Government of India (Indian Engineering Services) with more than 7 years experience. I have done Mechanical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering.
I gave my GMAT and scored 700. Breakup of my score is as follows:
Verbal-33
Quantitative-51
Integrated Reasoning -5
Analytical Writing Assessment -3
I’m aiming for the following business schools:
Harvard Business School
NTU
IE University
HEC Paris
ISB
Also, I have following credentials to my profile:
a. All India Rank 7 in GATE 2013, out of 1.65 lakh Mechanical Engineering students
b. YouTube channel for IIT JEE Mathematics to help students
c. Management Development Program in Financial Services & Capital Management from IIM Lucknow
Can I expect admission with scholarship in the aforementioned business schools, or should I retake the GMAT exam?

abhishekraj07 hope this finds you well
It is good to see that you have chosen a broad spectrum in your target schools. However, HBS seems like a reach at this point due to its extremely competitive applicant pool, without knowing more details about your work experience and background. Your GMAT score can be considered a mixed bag if you are looking at the top 15 schools in the US. Your Quant score is amazing, congratulations! The other schools on your list tend to be more accommodating when it comes to your verbal and AWA scores.
If targeting the top US schools, do reconsider retaking the GMAT. On the surface, NTU, IE, HEC, and ISB all seem like a good fit for you. You should add IIM A to your list as the average intake at IIMA PGPX is more experienced than any other Indian B School. However, for us to fully assess your candidacy for each school, you would need to provide more details about your work experience, the scope of business, the types of stakeholders you work with (government agencies, board members, private sector, consulting, etc.), and the impact you have had through your work over the past 7 years.
Note that schools are looking for strong differentiators in applicants. Use anecdotes from your professional life to demonstrate your leadership skills. Show that you have motivated teams to move projects forward and achieve desired results, resolved conflicts with persuasion, influenced senior management decisions with your keen observations and insights, and added value to your team and the organization as a whole. Demonstrate a willingness to take action and conscientious decision-making skills.
I am positive you would have tremendous experience in personnel management, administration, and policymaking having interfaced with government departments and ministries and other corporate, public, and private sector organizations.
You did not mention your post-MBA goals. That will play a significant part in the selection of schools.
Your side hustle as a YouTuber has the potential to be an interesting conversation starter. Your strong academic inclination is visible even in your Extra Curricular. For MBA, showcasing balanced right-brain thinking and searching for meaning beyond the numbers is also important in an MBA application.Feel free to reach out should you need candid advice.
Best wishes
