I am planning for my MBA in Australia. I have admits from Curtin University (MBA(Advanced)) and Deakin University (MBA(International)), with scholarships from both and I am unable to decide which University to accept.
My Background:
I am from India, and I am an Information Technology graduate with 3+ years of work experience in the software/technology domain and I am looking to transition into a managerial/consulting role.
I like the MBA curriculum for both the university. They both have an MBA Capstone Experience, Deakin has Work Integrated Learning (Internship/Consultancy) Elective while Curtin has a Consultancy Project and 2 optional subjects to tailor my MBA from. Both provides specialization to choose for the MBA. I am looking for specialization in Marketing/Management Consulting.
I checked the rankings for both the university, and it is almost a tie (Curtin although has a slightly better ranking than Deakin in some ranking portfolios).
Other Points that I have checked:
1. Deakin University has a better opportunity as it is situated in Melbourne. But I have also read that Melbourne is now overcrowded with students and the job competition is intense and people with local residents (with indefinite work rights) are preferred over International Students.
2. Curtin University being a regional university, it will help me with my PR in the future.
It would be great if anyone could provide me with other insights w.r.t. post study work opportunities, industry connections, employment statistics, and networking opportunities. It would also be really helpful if someone could shed light on the scenario if I study in Curtin how difficult or challenging would it be for me to find a job and move to Melbourne/Sydney job post study.
Thanks!
