Hey folks,
I just wanted to share my experience from my Master's applications, because this forum was my retreat during my GMAT study period.
First off: I scored a GMAT with a somewhat lower quant than verbal part. And I was accepted to ESSEC Msc in Finance and EDHEC Msc in Corporate Finance, plus a today's interview at HEC Paris Msc in Managerial and Financial Economics. Those were the only schools that I applied to.
I aimed for European Msc in Finance programs and especially considered French business schools (myself being a German citizen).
I want to speak French fluently and see speaking German, French and English as a good gateway to working in either Frankfurt, Paris or London. Plus I once doted on a French Belgian girl (yes, I have emotions).
My vita:
4y Bachelor International Management from a complete non-target University of Applied Sciences in Germany. It's so off the beaten track that many Germans haven't heard of the town.
but three semesters abroad at Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (yes, Latvia), IE University in Madrid and University of Oxford.
How's that? IE and Oxford were visiting student programs, so I arranged everything myself.
Plus one internship at a small asset management start-up (6 months) and PwC transcaction services (5 months).
Just wanted to motivate anyone who's worried about her/his GMAT score and undergrad university. There are ways and they're possible.
Kind regards,
Lemor
PS: I was disappointed by my GMAT score having had 680 and 720 in my mock exams. I scored 570 the first time after one months of intense studying. Afterwards I didn't study for weeks and before re-taking it, I just did three days of skipping through some questions at gmatclub. Still I scored 650. The GMAT really is a mental game - I obviously couldn't deal with the haunting thoughts of basically making your life dependent on some hours of multiple choice questions.
