Thanks again to the GMATClub for helping me (and everyone else) out in this tough admissions process!
I have recently been admitted to the Boston University SOM with a generous scholarship!
However, now I am deciding whether to go to BU this upcoming academic year or wait a couple of years (1-2 years) and retry for higher-ranked schools.
My profile:
Education
Age: 25
Science Major from Top Public
GPA: 2.7
GMAT: 680 (44 Q, 39 V)
Work Experience: 2.5 years at a nationally known financial tech firm working on software implementations. Got to work with a lot of major banks and financial institutions.
Developed technical, communication and business skills
ECs and Leadership: Some leadership in Undergrad. Pretty good ECs (Religious Organization, Internships with Academic Research, Charity Orgs, Volunteer Orgs)
Goals
Short Term: Consulting @ Booz Allen, Accenture, AT Kearney, etc. Non-MBB
Long Term: Supply Chain/Operations/Retail
Hoping to end up in Northeast/NYC after graduation
Attending BU This Year
Pros
Starting school now and moving on with career (Really don't want to go through admissions process again...)
(Ideally would want to start school either this year or next.)
Scholarship means less loans
Boston is a great city to learn, live and network in!
Great program with my concentrations that align with my interests
Cons
Not as Highly Ranked (Not sure if this is a problem with future employment, but I am thrilled about the school!)
Not as many Employment opportunities/placements as Top-Tier schools
Smaller Class Size (Pro/Con!)
I was recently dinged at UNC in R2. Am applying for a few more schools in their R3 (Kelley, Duke, Cornell etc.)
Any thoughts/experiences shared would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
