That is so scarly! :roll: 800+ applicants with 750-800 scores yet only 75 enrolled.

what happened to those 725 people that had 750+ scores....

Actually with 750-800 is something like 130 enrolled.

If you assume that their yield rate for 750-800 was like 35%, that gives you close to 400 acceptances. Not bad.

This is my analysis for kellogg .. I got the stats from businessweek

APPLICANTS
Applications (admitted and denied) to the newest class: 5051
Applicants who were accepted to the most recent class: 19 %
Admitted applicants who enrolled in the newest class: 58 %
Admitted applicants who were interviewed: 100 %

APPLICANT POOL
International applications received: 43 %
Applications from women received: 29 %

CLASS PROFILE
Full-time students in newest entering class (2008-2009) that are:
Female: 36 %
International: 34 %

International Applicants = 43%
 US Applicants = 57%

Accepted International Applicants = 36%
 Accepted US Applicants = 64%

Acceptance Factor for US Applicants = 64/57 = 1.123
Acceptance Factor for International Applicants = 36/43 = 0.837

Women Applicants = 29%
Accepted Women Applicants = 36%
Acceptance Factor for Women Applicants = 36/29 = 1.241
Acceptance Factor for Male Applicants = 64/71 = 0.9014

Total Accepted Applicants = 5051*19/100 = 960

GMAT Distribution
UP TO 650 -------650 - 690 ----700 - 740----- 750-800
Enrolled Students -----------6%--------22%---------50%------------22%
Total Applicants ------------13%-------25%----------46%----------- 16%

Just considering Applicants with GMAT >= 750

Applicants (with GMAT >= 750) = 16% = (5051*16/100) = 808
Accepted Applicants (with GMAT >= 750) = 22*100/58 = 38% (Since Yield = 58%)
= 960* 38/100 = 365

Acceptance Rate (GMAT >= 750) = 365*100 /808 = 45%

Acceptance Rate for US applicants = 45* (Acceptance Factor for US Applicants = 1.123) = 50.535 %
Acceptance Rate for US women applicants = 50.535 * 1.241 = 62.7%
Acceptance Rate for US Male applicants = 50.535 * 0.9014 = 45.6%

Considering the yield is lower in people with higher GMAT .. the actual acceptance rate for GMAT > 750 might be 55% for US males and 75% for US females.

P.S: We all know that Internationals have a better acceptance rate but the stats for Internationals look artificially low because of the Indians who might be looking at 5% acceptance rate for GMAT > 750

Re: Admitted student GMaT breakdown [#permalink]
Gave you +1 that's awesome analysis. I actually believe the yield for 750+ candidates to be way below 58% from reading around the boards.

I personally estimate it at 35%, based on nothing but assumptions. But granted it is 58% overall, and 660-690 into kellogg would be looking at close to 80% yield.

Anyone else?

Based on 35% Yield

Applicants (with GMAT >= 750) = 16% = (5051*16/100) = 808
Total Enrolled Applicants = 544
Enrolled Applicants with (>=750) = 22%*544 = 120
Assuming 35% yield = 120/35% =342

Acceptance Rate (GMAT >= 750) = 342*100 /808 = 42%

Acceptance Rate for US applicants = 42* (Acceptance Factor for US Applicants = 1.123) = 48 %
Acceptance Rate for US women applicants = 48 * 1.241 = 60%
Acceptance Rate for US Male applicants = 48 * 0.9014 = 43 %

43% for US males and 60% for US females.

Based on ADMISSION411.com Info (not vouching that it's correct)

From known results.
US applicants:
Accepted: 10/19 = 53%
Denied: 6/19 = 32%
W/L: 3/19 = 16%
