An update on the financial/FAFSA process.


Dec 22, 2011 - received an email from Johnson saying "I’m sorry to report we are unable to make you a scholarship award offer."
Feb 11, 2012 - Submitted my tax documents
Feb 14, 2012 - Filed FAFSA and notified [email protected]
Feb 22, 2012 - Received an email from Cornell :

Quote:
We will begin sending out student loan award notifications to our admitted students early March. This notification will outline the cost of attendance, loans you qualify for and instructions on how to proceed.

Have you received any information? I submitted my FAFSA on Sunday and sent an email to the financial aid office telling them I submitted, but haven't heard anything. I'm sure they are pretty slammed!

Have you received any information? I submitted my FAFSA on Sunday and sent an email to the financial aid office telling them I submitted, but haven't heard anything. I'm sure they are pretty slammed!

On March 5 I got an email with the "Student loan award notification_new" subject:

Quote:

...blah-blah...

Attached you will find three documents:
· Your financial aid award notification
· Federal Grad PLUS application
· Loan comparison chart

...blah-blah...

If you wish to decline or partially accept any part of your award please notify our office by replying to this email.

...blah-blah...

This award is valid for the 2012-13 academic year. You must re-apply for federal financial aid next year.

...blah-blah...

I've talked to WellsFargo about student loans and got the following % (with cosigner):

Wow! Is my credit score that bad? Government graduate loans are 7.9%...

I will also explore other options, such as borrowing against my house...

How important does everybody think attending Destination Johnson is? After several flights to the NE for interviews, I'm getting hit badly with flight and hotel costs.
