When do we find out whether our waivers have gone through?
Since this will impact my core course selection, I'm hoping we find out soon.
From the Waiver Results page on the admitted student website:
Waiver Results
The outcome of your request for waivers will be available online when you arrive on campus. This will leave a week to prepare for waiver exam(s) if you receive a "no waiver" or "partial waiver" from the department. Faculty advisers will be available to discuss waiver outcomes during the latter half of Pre-Term.
For some core courses, students denied a waiver and hoping to take an advanced course in the department may sit for a waiver examination during new student orientation in September. Students who pass the waiver exam are entitled to take any Kellogg elective in the department (based on availability). For some courses, preference is given to second-year students. The exam, like a final exam, will cover the topics and readings described on the course description form. Information about waiver exams can be found in the Waiver Procedures Information document. Don't even worry about it until you get on campus. Add/Drop is during the second week of CIM - you'll have plenty of time to compare notes with folks on campus hehe.
If you have enough time to worry about it now - relax, find a beach, drink a margarita

That being said - I'll give my take:
Courses cost 0 points during add/drop (its first come first served).... its only about are there spots in the class. This should generally not be a problem for core classes - only thing in demand is the particular teacher. That's why I'd choose marketing for your waiver. Its the only class where teacher matters among the core options.
Thus you give yourself the most opportunities for success - get Hennessy or Grayson during random selection and the possibility to switch into one during add/drop if possible if you get.
Note: actually upon second check - the 3rd great intro MKTG professor (Chernev) is back - so that reduces this concept. But you might have a preference if you've met one before, or know you want to take a class with one of the three for 0 points.
Also, if you waive Fin I, I'm pretty sure you can get auto-enrolled into Fin II before Add/Drop.
Plus, I don't think Turbo Fin totally filled last year anyway - so very little Add/Drop risk if you don't waive Fin I and want to take Turbo if you don't.
