Way I did it...

Options A,C,E are out as they are not satisfying a condition where next day purchase gets one into different discount range.

Consider 7 days.

Passenger paid 1050 which has to be 90% of original price.
So 10% is 105; if she purchases next day it would not cost more than 105 extra.

Obvious choice left is D. 14 days.

Validate....

1050 is 75% with current discount. so Price has to be 1400 ( 1050 is 75% so what is 100%)
If she purchases next day discount reduces to 10%
90% of 1400 - 1050 matches 210 (extra he/she has to pay)

Advance Purchase Discount for Airline Travel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Days Prior to departure | Percentage discount
------------------------------------------------------
0-6 days | 0%
7-13 days | 10%
14-29 days | 25%
30 days or more | 40%
------------------------------------------------------
The table above shows the discount structure for advanced purchase of tickets at a particular airline. A passenger bought a ticket at this airline for $1050. The ticket agent informed her that, had she purchased the ticket one day later, she would have paid $210 more. How many days beforeher departure did she purchase her ticket?
a) 6days
b) 7 days
c) 13 days
d) 14 days
e) 29 days
First Elim ACE b/c these choices wouldnt change the value of the ticket given the conditions.
so now try for B: 1050=.9x --> not an integer so this isn't our choice
D: 1050=.75x --> x=1400
now .9(1400) = 1260 --> and 1050+210 =1260.
