hey guys,
well i totally bombed my GMAT test, although i got into the only mba program i did apply to (i applied to a bunch of other masters) at san diego state!
how would you guys recommend this school in the business world?? i was totally set on getting my masters at san francisco until i found out i was accepted here... now i am torn between the 2 schools! any thoughts??

i know most of you guys are gunning for top GMAT scores.. which is awesome! but, i took it twice and i did not score nearly close enough to my target score (or even close enough to the schools average) and i still got in!!
ohhh i am kinda new to this MBA stuff.. is their really such thing as a good/bad mba??? i also have very very limited work experience!

There is a very big difference between a good and a bad MBA. Especially if you want to go into challenging sectors and/or top companies.

After top 20-30, the help of school's reputation and impact of career services sharply decline. Don't get an MBA just for getting one. Get one that will help open doors to you...

My two cents is that it depends. And that can be the answer for a ton of MBA questions. I think any MBA can open doors, the question is, how far does the door get opened, and how hard it is to completely bust through the door. Obviously, the better the program, the more the door opens and the easier it is to follow through.

Another consideration is, are you being sponsored by your current company. If your company wants you to get an MBA and they will bump you up their ladder because of it, any school will do.

Again, that's all just my opinion.

Rankings aren't everything, so look at the program and see if it really offers what you want. Did you interview there, sit in on classes, talk to students? Did you see what recruitment and placement are like? If you're planning to stay in the area, then I'm sure it's fine. It also depends on what field you're in.

With very little work experience, your MBA options are very limited, because the better schools want more experience (usually). Do a little more research online and at the school, and you'll be comfortable with whatever decision you make.
